Windows

Ok so I am getting to the point in the house process where I need to purchase window coverings. If we are able to move in this weekend, like we have planned, I wouldn't be able to step out of the shower without passerbys on the road taking a peek! So I am off tonight to search for the perfect thing to do the trick and I am stumped as to what I should purchase. I was wondering if any of you have favorite coverings that you would recommend? I really like the roman shades but I have never had any so I don't know much about them. We have three windows that are on the front of the house and I think that the window stuff should match so it looks good from the outside. The down side is that one room is our bedroom, one is the living room and one will be Gus' room, so they will all have different color schemes!

On the upside I have been able to move dishes and cups and towels and sheets and we set up my old cast iron bed in the spare bedroom! Progress is wonderful. Keep your fingers crossed that we pass the final inspection today. I am hoping that we can move in before this really cold weather sets in this weekend.

Sugar and Smiles :)

I am about as excited as I can be! If I manage to make it thru this day it will be a miracle because I am bound to make so many mistakes due to lack of paying attention. You see, I am super thrilled that the rest of the Ayers' family is having to go to the Chamber Banquet tonight and that means that Allie, J. and I are having a big time. Granted it has been a long time since I have babysat a child as small as Allie but she is so precious it really doesn't matter. I know that Carrie will provide us with the necessary information to fill in the gaps in my memory and we will be set. J. and I are going to watch her at Mam and Pap's house because our house is EXTREMELY cold (this morning it was 38 degrees in my kitchen). I know you are thinking, "How in the world do you survive in that cold?". Let me tell you I am counting down the days to the big move because I will not miss wearing a sock hat on the couch and carrying the space heater from the bedroom to the bathroom a hundred times a day and having to eat breakfast in the bedroom on the floor in front of the heater! It is a miracle that I don't have pneumonia. But, back to Allie, J and I are planning to steal lots of sugar and hoping for plenty of smiles tonight because that is all an aunt and uncle need to make it all worth while. Besides we really need the practice right?

It's A Boy!!!

Finally we are able to give a name to our little baby. I have called him Gus constantly. It is so nice to be able to say "he" instead of "it". I apologize that this post isn't going to be very detailed. Having taken off yesterday, I am way behind at work today and I have court all afternoon. I'll try to do better later. Ya'll should have seen J's face when he found out for sure it was a boy. He was so excited that he called people from the time we walked out of the sonogram room until we were finished with lunch, about 2 hours later. I think everyone is pretty excited. Finding out has also given me the push to start actually looking into baby stuff, like clothes and nursery decor. I can't wait! My only purchase yesterday, though, turned out to be rustic wooden blocks that spell "GUS". I have already put them in his room at the new house! I did discover that shopping for little boy clothes is way more difficult than little girls. They have like two racks for boys and twenty for girls! Not fair. The ladies that I work with had a big balloon waiting with a camo onsie and baby bag and another lady gave me a little outfit that says "I hold the keys to mommy's heart". I have to go now, but I'll try to get a sonogram picture up if I get out of court in time.

Electricity

I am like a kid in a candy store today. Anyone watching me last night at our new house would have thought I was absolutely crazy. I turned on and off every light switch in the house multiple times because we now have power! I have decided that electricity is truly an amazing thing that we take for granted. Having power means that the fridge is now cold and we can have drinks:

My most favorite appliance, my stove, is also working and I of course had to turn on each burner and watch it get red! I am crazy I know but ya'll just bear with me. This picture was taken before the microwave was installed above it and before the stove was pushed into the hole but you can get the idea.

Maybe today when you turn on a light switch you will think of me!

Also tomorrow is the big day! We get to find out if we need to buy blue or pink and I am so excited that I probably will be unable to sleep tonight. Our sonogram is at 9:30, followed by the doctors appointment at 10:00. J and I both have lists of calls to make so you'll probably know before I can post something on Friday morning. I'll be shopping too much tomorrow to make it back to use a computer!

Cherry Coke and Limeades!

Being pregnant I was prepared for sickness and cravings from the beginning. Thank goodness I avoided the sickness but I have to say I have been dissappointed that the cravings haven't been a little more wild! So far the best I can do is Cherry flavoring. When I was little I used to always get a cherry coke at Ralphs but I hadn't had one in years until recently. Now whenever I am anywhere near Ralphs or the Burger Spot I have to stop in! The same thing goes for cherry limeades at sonic. I love them (and their ice) all hours of the day. That is sadly about as far as it goes though. No weird food cravings, I just crave food period. It all tastes so good and when it is time to eat, well it's time to eat. There is no waiting. I sure am going to miss being able to eat like this though after a few more months, so I am going to enjoy it while it lasts!

Homebuilding 101!

While I still haven't graduated from the above course, I am definitely getting closer. For the last 9 months J and I have been working on our first home every extra minute we can find. I have definitely learned a few things about myself in this process and reaffirmed things that I already knew. For instance, I hate to make decisions, I am not cut out for long projects (give me the short weekend variety anytime), I am married to a very talented man, and that I will never take free time for granted again! I haven't been shopping or out to the movies, we haven't gone hunting or fishing the entire season, and sleeping in on Saturday has been out of the question! But don't get me wrong it hasn't been entirely bad either. J and I have been able to spend a lot of time together and we haven't had problems like so many people talk about when they are building a house! It is also amazing to stand back and look at what you have created from nothing! I am just praying that we are able to move in by the end of this month like we have been hoping. Keep your fingers crossed and hopefully ya'll can come visit soon!
