A Christmas Survey, I need your help!
With this being Gus' first Christmas, J and I have been trying to come up with our own family traditions to start this year. We wanted to do something new/different than what our families currently do but we are having a hard time. I thought it might be neat to see what some of your holiday traditions are and maybe we could borrow some of your ideas! So if you have a minute or two please let me know what your family does now or did when you were little that makes Christmas special to you. Thanks!

On Christmas Eve, by the tree, read the TRUE story of Christmas from Luke. If you are really good, you can use figures from the nativity to tell the story.
ReplyDeleteWe like to see the millions of lights at the Spirit of the Suwannee...it is amazing...pack the car with lots of friends and family for an even better time. They have a Santa, hot chocolate and more. The music sets the scene.
On Christmas Eve, we always get to open one SMALL present. Mama or Daddy have to choose and it has to be small! The other tradition we have is blueberry pancakes and link sausage on Christmas morning. This tradition we do when my Mama's side of the family is together.

New pajamas on Christmas Eve. They make for better family pictures in the morning, even when you look like crap.

One day the chirrens will have their own little tree to decorate by themselves with all their handmade and unbreakable ornaments.
Your traditions will build. You can't have them all at once.

This year Adam and I are going to put together Allie's toys while watching a Christmas movie after she goes to bed.
ReplyDeleteWe always read the Christmas story from Luke before opening gifts on Christmas morning and we hope to use the nativity scene figurines this year to "show her." We have the Little People nativity scene and she loves to play with it!
Read the Christmas story from Luke, have a birthday cake for Jesus and sing to Him. On Christmas Eve we always read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and put out a treat for Santa (be sure to ask Daddy what he thinks Santa would like). When Ida Marie was little she asked why we didn't have a birthday cake for it was Jesus' birthday. That is how traditions get started. Love ya'll and Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteSO this is a little late, but Advent Calenders are always fun. We also try to do as much "Christmas" stuff as we can in the month- ie. lights, plays, Santa, church, decorating, crafts, cooking. The kids love making a big deal out of the whole month!
